Yoga Etiquette

Feel Prepared for Class:

  • Wear comfortable, fitted clothing.
  • Bring mat, towel and water. No mat? No problem! Borrow one of ours.
  • Practice is best on an empty stomach (two hours since your last meal).
  • If you have any injuries or special circumstances, let your teacher know before class.
  • First time at YogaFish? Please arrive 15 minutes before class. We recommend all students arrive at least 10 minutes before class so you don’t feel rushed.

Cultivate Compassion:

  • Shoes and conversation are fine in the lobby. Please remove shoes, turn off your cell phone, and observe silence as you enter the practice space.
  • Please refrain from wearing perfume or strong scents to class.
  • Be sure your feet and mat are clean.

Expand Awareness:

  • “Don’t sacrifice the instinct of your body for the glory of the pose.” -‐Swami Karmananda Saraswati. If something doesn’t feel right, modify or ask for assistance-‐ please!
  • “We do not use the body to get into the pose; we use the pose to get into the body.” -‐Bernie Clark. At YogaFish, we ask that you do your best to bring no judgment, no comparison, and no negativity into your yoga practice. Let go of the need to get anywhere and enjoy where you already are.
